Soulblight - A Shadowdark Setting
A downloadable game
Seven sundered, struck deep down into the darkest depths of the earth.
Corruption festering forth from the caverns and gulches that have become their tomb, drawing the blackened hearts of monsters and men alike, to worship at their corpses. Blasphemous influence roused the sleepers, and from it sprang the Soulblight, that ravaged the kingdom above, warping the innocents’ body and mind ‘til they are as one of the Accursed.
Then one day, a Three-Eyed Witch arrived at the court of King Jedovid in smoke and a shower of light and she pointed a crooked finger at his face and cackled this oracle:
“Seven sleepers dream nightmares for the living, and though they are wreathed not in gold or jewels, each alone is a sovereign far greater than you. But the plight they bring shall be your cure as well. Though dead they lie, their hearts still beat and their blood remains potent. In the blood, you’ll find your cure.
Seek their tombs in the Shadowdark, deep below, and you may yet save your tarnished land.”
Soulblight is a third-party setting compatible with The Arcane Library's Shadowdark RPG: A sword-and-sorcery style world set in the deserts, jungles and mountainous heights of the kingdom of Lothorian.
Delve into the sunken depths of the Shadowdark, as an ancient darkness awakens the slumbering Sovereign, catalysts of the terrible Soulblight that now ravages the kingdom and its people.
This Setting Guide provides you with the following contents:

got 3 questions right now, since there are no reviews out there that I could find.
1) PrintFriendly version is v5 while normal version is v6-2-1. Is the print friendly version outdated?
2) Does this come with hexmaps and premade dungeons or something of the sorts? How about generative tables and such?
3) is the printer friendly version with white background? like really printer friendly?
Thanks in advance
1) The PrintFriendly version should be as up to date as version v6-2-1. It went through viewer version iterations as the PrintFriendly option was implemented later. Both will soon receive their update.
2) The book has a rough reion map included in the first pages of the book! As for pre-made dungeons, while there are none in the book itself, I have a collection of free adventures set in the Soulblight setting, which can be found here and will soon also be uploaded here on itch.io as a properly layed out pdf! The update I am working on will also include random encounter tables tied to each of the seven regions. Already included in the book are small tables tied to each of the seven Sovereign's Shadowdark locations that may be used to generate ideas for a dungeon.
3) Yes, the printer-friendly version is composed of black letters on a white background!
opinion: the print friendly version could have a black and white map of the region. from what I could see it's the only thing of important relevance missing compared to the standard version.
Hi. How many pages does this have?
Hello! The entire setting book currently sits at 141 pages! There will be an update soon to the pdf that may expand its size by roughly 7-8 pages.
ok thanks!
when is the update expected to happen?
Very soon, with a little luck before the end of this year. I am currently halfway through the book, cleaning up spellchecks, rewriting passages and editing various ancestries and classes and then turning to the Bestiarium next, as that will be the bulk of the work. There were still remnants of the OGL Fiasco that I had to quickly implement back then before things were straightened out which also influenced the core Shadowdark Rulebook for a brief while.
Are the pages of the book supposed to look washed out? The printer friendly version looks normal, but the backgrounds on the other are weirdly bright and it makes the white text harder to read.
I'm going to look into this! I think we forgot to adjust the page backgrounds to be of the same more washed-out black as CHAMPIONS and VAGRANTS & VAGABONDS. I'll update this as soon as I can.
Follow up question, are there supposed to be purple line borders on every page? I don’t see them on the other books. The lines aren’t distracting, just noticeable.
Ah, no. They are not. We'll fix those up ASAP, thank you for pointing it out!
Alright, updated! The purple borders are gone now. Brief mishap during the changing of the backgrounds!
Updated the book! The backgrounds should now fall more in line with those found in CHAMPIONS OF LOTHORIAN and VAGRANTS AND VAGABONDS!
Thank you for fixing it so fast! This is way easier on my eyes and now I can see how nice the graphic design looks, on top of reading about this cool setting.
